We are excited to see our students tomorrow!! Even though the 2020/2021 school year is like none other, Star City School District will still be serving food kids love to eat and offering great-tasting menu options. Understanding the school experience may be different, one thing that isn’t changing is the commitment to continue creating the best dining experience for students and keeping mealtime a safe, happy and healthy experience for all.
This year at Star City School District, meal deliveries includes:
Classroom Delivery – Instead of having students visit the cafeteria, meals will be delivered directly to their classrooms for breakfast.
Common Areas Outside – By setting up new tables and allowing students to eat outside at the Middle School and High School we have created alternate eating areas. While keeping the proper social distance, students will be able to pick up their meals safely and return to their area for eating. In the event that it is raining, gyms will be opened up for Middle School and High School students as an alternate eating area.
Cafeteria – Students will still have the opportunity to visit the cafeteria to pick up and eat their meals, however, they will enter and be released in appropriate waves to ensure proper social distancing.
Take-Home Meals – As students continue distance learning, meal pick-up sites will be at Jimmy Brown Elementary every Tuesday starting September 1, 2020. Parents may pick up meals for the students from 10am-11am every Tuesday behind JBE. Your student will receive five breakfast and five lunch for the week with heating and cooking instructions included.
Health and Safety Remains a Priority
While the logistics and location for how meals will be served is different, students, staff and parents can have peace of mind knowing that Chartwells K12’s foodservice plans for Star City School District are rooted in the most stringent health and safety practices aligned with federal and state regulations, along with local health department recommendations. All Chartwells K12 associates will participate in COVID-19 specific training developed in consultation with the Cleveland Clinic, undergo health screenings before each workday and follow strict guidelines for glove, mask and physical distancing protocols. Enhanced cleaning and sanitation measures help assure the safest environments possible. We have installed a new scanner system for lunch. Students will receive a name badge with a bar code to scan during meal times.
