The Arkansas Department of Education has released its 2026 school accountability results, and Star City School District is celebrating notable academic growth across the district.
Jimmy Brown Elementary saw one of the district’s largest gains, increasing its overall accountability score from 366.45 points last year to 407.72 points this year. The 41.27-point increase moved JBE from a D rating to a C.
Star City Middle School also posted significant improvement, increasing from 392.25 points to 439.18 points, a gain of 46.93 points. The Middle School finished 6.44 points above the statewide median and came within just a few points of earning a B rating.
All three Star City School District campuses received a C rating, with the district also earning an overall C. The district finished just three points shy of earning a B rating, highlighting how close SCSD is to reaching the next level in the state accountability system.
In addition, SCSD was designated as a Level 1 district under the state’s system of support. Arkansas uses five levels of support, with Level 1 indicating that no additional state support or required actions are necessary. Level 5 represents the highest level of state support and additional requirements.
Star City High School also posted a 95 percent graduation rate, while all three district campuses met state requirements for subgroup performance and assessment participation.
District leaders say the results demonstrate continued academic progress while also providing a clear picture of areas where additional improvement is needed.
“We are extremely proud of the growth taking place throughout Star City School District,” Superintendent Jordan Frizzell said. “Our staff has worked incredibly hard to meet students where they are and help them grow. We know there is still work ahead of us, but the gains at Jimmy Brown Elementary and Star City Middle School show what is possible when our teachers, administrators, students and families remain focused on continuous improvement.”
The district plans to build on this year’s progress as it continues working toward higher levels of academic achievement across all three campuses.
