Allison Dunn Receives Giving Tree Grant

Delta Area Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas Community Foundation, announced $22,900.00 in Giving Tree Grants for nonprofits in Desha/Lincoln
Counties. These grant awards were presented on September 28 and Oct 3 at McGhee, Dumas
and Star City.

Allison Dunn, 3rd grade teacher at Jimmy Brown Elementary, received $2,000 in grant funds; Dunn plans to use these funds to purchase flexible seating options for her classroom.

The grant awards are from the DACF Giving Tree Endowment an unrestricted endowment that the board members determine the awards.  We received 18 grant requests from area nonprofit organizations totaling over $32,485.  We will be awarding a total of $22,900 to nonprofits who are operating in or serving Desha and Lincoln counties.

“Our Giving Tree program is our flagship grantmaking program. It represents our commitment to and the importance of local decision-making to meet local needs,” said Heather Larkin,
president and CEO of the Community Foundation. “Funding for our Giving Tree grants comes
from individuals and families within our affiliate areas who want to improve their community.
These endowments provide a permanent source of funding for local charitable causes.”

Delta Area Community Foundation makes grants through the Giving Tree program annually.
The next grant cycle will begin in July 2024. More information about Community Foundation
