On Friday October the 13th the Star City High school wrapped up the end of a big week! We had lots of festivities for the students to participate in during homecoming week. There were cool dress up days such as Meme Monday, Tacky Tuesday, Senior Citizen’s day (Wednesday), Character day (Thursday), and  Spirit day (Friday). The students competed against each other to see who had the most spirit. Our winners were for the girls Patience Rushing and for the boys Clytrell Daniel! Congratulations to those two on winning a free yearbook and cup filled with candy! Additionally, Mrs. Amy Shepherd was voted most spirited teacher and received a candy cup as well.

When Wednesday rolled around it was time for the first ever Homecoming parade. Each couple from the homecoming court loaded up in their hotrods to drive thru town. The clubs were also encouraged to participate and create floats that represented the New Blue theme. They worked long and hard to create their masterpieces, that would be judged that day based on looks and the spirit that the float riders had. A big shout out to our lucky winners, the local FFA chapter with first place.  The cheerleaders and Math Club also placed.

On Friday we were given the opportunity to have a tailgate during school from 10:00-2:00. There were class vs class games and many clubs set up booths where they had many games for students to play. It was a very exciting experience for many of the students since this had never been done before.

The ceremony on Friday was beautiful and a memory that many will never forget! There were so many elegant dresses it was hard to choose which one would be my favorite! “It was nerve racking at first, when you're about to walk out you're freaking out but then when they call your name it’s like a calmness comes over you and you know what you have to do. However it was fun and I didn’t realize you took so many pictures! I loved walking with my dad across the football and overall it was something I will hold onto forever!” Senior Maid Michaela Andrews says about her experience walking this year. Overall Homecoming 2017 was a success.
